rates & t&cS

rates

The cost for any project will be calculated through day rates. I will provide a quote for you after discussing your requirements that breaks down each element of the job by the different day rates involved.

My standard filming day rate is £500. This is for up to 8 hours filming, including travel time.

My long day filming rate is £650. This is for anything above 8 hours, including travel time. This rate also applies to any job that involves staying overnight at a location, and work carried out on weekends.

The above rates include the use of my equipment (i.e. my camera, lenses etc). However, I charge an extra £100 to use a second camera (usually as part of an interview set up). I charge £50 extra per job to provide a teleprompter setup.

I charge a travel day rate of £400.

My standard day rate for filming abroad is £750 and my long day filming rate is £850.

My day rate for editing is £400. A day of editing is 7 hours, which I may carry out over a number of different days.

I don’t typically charge half day rates for filming (with occasional exceptions, such as filming online), but I do break down editing into half days where appropriate.

LATE CANCELLATION

I understand that sometimes jobs need to be cancelled due to conditions outside of the client’s control. However, cancellations can leave freelancers out of pocket, as we often have had to turn down other work in order to keep our commitment to a job. As such, I require compensation if a job is cancelled with late notice.

If you cancel a day’s filming or editing with less than 48 hours notice, I charge 50% of my day rate.

If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, I charge 100% of my day rate.

ESTIMATES

I typically make an estimate for the cost of a job after first speaking with my client. This estimate is subject to revision if the nature or scale of the job changes. However, I will always communicate with my client if I think a job is going to cost more (or less) than I originally quoted.

SUBCONTRACTING

For some jobs, I may need to hire separate contractors, such as other camera operators, assistants, sound recordists or animators. I will always discuss with my client if I think this is going to be the case.

PAYMENT

I require that invoices are paid within 30 days, or an additional 10% of costs will be added per month of late payment.

EXPENSES

Most filming jobs involve expenses of some kind.

I require clients to cover any costs for travel (be this by train, taxi or car) or accommodation.

If a job involves overnight work, I will also require costs for subsistence (i.e. food in the evening and morning) to be covered.

REVISIONS

The number of revisions that a client can ask for on a project will be agreed in advance. This is typically around three or four sets (usually divided into a series of revisions and then one set of tweaks). Any additional sets of revisions/tweaks beyond this will be charged at £150 per set.

IP AND USE

The intellectual property rights of any films I make on commission belong to the client I make the film for. However, I reserve the right to use the material for any promotional or marketing purposes.

RAW FOOTAGE

I’m happy to provide raw footage for an extra £50, plus expenses for hard drive and postage + packaging.

PUBLIC LIABILITY

I am covered in respect of Public Liability with a limit of indemnity of £5,000,000.
